Happy Juneteenth (June 19th)!

So today, Juneteenth (June 19th) became a national holiday for the 1^st time OFFICIALLY. Abraham Lincoln only freed the slaves in the southern portion of the United States with the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth commemorates the freeing of all the slaves in both northern and southern portions of the United States with the Union victory, end of the Civil War in 1865, and passage of the 13^th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. I’m honestly surprised that no one has made it a national holiday, yet, before today. The 1^st place it was recognized was in Galveston, Texas and it’s been celebrated since 1866. I see it as just as much of an important holiday, as Presidents’ Day, or Martin Luther King Day. So therefore, I completely understand why people would want to make it a federal holiday. Slavery is 1 of the greatest stains on our country’s history from the moment the 1^st slaves were brought to Virginia in 1619 up until 1865, especially being that we were trying to create a Constitutional Democratic Republic, which was very radical for the time because most countries were still governed by aristocratic, wealthy, and divinely-birthed monarchs, and their families. It’s very contradictory to have a government created by the people, of the people, and for the people when half the population that’s doing all the backbreaking labor doesn’t have a say in the country that is supposed to promote individualism, and equality. But as I say that, every country in the world has had slavery at some point in their history, and it’s just as wrong then, as it should be now no matter the country, or time period.  The mother country Britain and the United States were just the 1^st 2 countries to finally do away with it starting in the early modern time period, which automatically makes them better for that reason. The year’s 1807 and 1808 respectively, by banning the slave trade. To say you were anti-slavery in any part of the world before 1807 was like saying you believe in aliens, or don’t like to breathe oxygen. It was that outlandish of a concept. No country is perfect, but this is why the United States is a little bit better than most countries because at least in theory, if you don’t like the way the country is being run you have the ability to amend the law, whereas in other countries, laws were written to keep the same people in power, and the citizens have little to no rights, or say in their country. 

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

On this day, in 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked, which led to the United States entering World War II.

With today being the 79^th anniversary of this horrific, and history making day. I’d like to give a big shout out and thank you to all those of “the greatest generation” who sacrificed their lives, and their mental and emotional well-being for the safety of this nation, and other freedom loving nations around the world.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who didn’t make it home, as well as those still living who spent their golden years fighting evil incarnate.

If it wasn’t for all of you, people of color, people of Jewish descent, and any other type of people deemed not fit to live, especially people deemed disabled, such as myself would not exist if Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin as well as others like them, remained unopposed. There are not enough words in any language to be able to express my deepest gratitude for what you all endured on behalf of the rest of us.

Happy Constitution and Citizenship Day!

Happy Constitution and Citizenship Day everybody! I commemorate this day because in the United States, this is the day that our Constitution was ratified as well as the day that we commemorate all freedom loving citizens around the world.

I hope that wherever you’re at in the world, and whoever’s reading this, does really appreciate the freedoms, and rights they have in any Democratic Republic around the world. So here’s to all the freedom loving individuals in the various 196 to 250 countries in the world.

Happy Patriots’ Day everybody! Like everybody else, I remember exactly where I was on September 11, 2001. I was in my high school drama class junior year. Such a tragic day! We were all in total shock. Words can’t express the deep sadness, heartbreak, and agony we all feel on this day!

 If Patriots’ Day is an unofficial holiday, it really should be an official national holiday because it was unfortunately burned into all of our brains, and none of us will ever forget those images.

Happy Flag Day!

Today we pay homage to 1 of our nation’s greatest symbols. The flag of the United States of America, itself. Where the red and white stripes represent the 13 colonies that began our country’s history and the 50 stars denote each of the individual states in our current union.

On a side note, I support any country around the world having a day to commemorate its own flag, and taking pride in its own history.

I’m looking at you other 195 to 249 countries around the world, depending on your definition of a country, to show your pride.

Happy Memorial Day everybody! Today is a day to remember anybody we’ve lost really. But it’s an especially important day to remember those servicemen and women of the Army, Army Air Core, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard, past and present, that gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, in-service to our country. A lot of the times they give up not only their physical well-being, but mental and emotional stability as well, if their wounds aren’t physical, so every day Americans can live in freedom. For all those committed to the cause of liberty, I say thank you!

Today we commemorate the Hebrews Exodus out of Egypt during Passover, and Jesus Christ’s trial, death, and resurrection.

Now, I’m not the most religious person, but being I study history like I lived it. I use my knowledge of various sections of social studies (history, religion, geography, politics etc.) to relate to people.

I wish you many blessings Jews, and Christians from around the world on this day. Especially, the Judeo-Christian West consisting of both American continents, as well as the continent of Europe, where 83% of people are some sort of denomination of these faiths.

Happy Presidents' Day!

 

Today is a day used to commemorate all the individuals who have been given the title President of the United States in our country’s history. We casually call this day that occurs every 3^rd Monday in February, Presidents’ Day. But in actuality if you look back at the history of this holiday. It’s the combination of 2 holidays in one. George Washington’s Birthday is actually on February 22nd, and was celebrated on that particular day since 1879. But Abraham Lincoln’s birthday also used to be celebrated separately as a federal holiday on February 12th throughout the years since 1866. One year after his assassination by the famous stage actor John Wilkes Booth. The Uniform Holidays Act of 1968 is what shifted Washington and Lincoln’s birthdays to the same day and combined the 2 into one holiday. Instead of 2 separate holidays like it had been prior to 1968. However, there has been no law officially changing the actual name from what it had been, which was Washington’s Birthday to Presidents’ Day. But all Americans as I said in this modern time, on their own refer to it as simply Presidents’ Day which allows for the remembrance of every president to be encompassed into one day.

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! This is a day to commemorate new love blossoming, and old love being strengthened, and reconfirmed. And if you’re single, the world is your oyster. So take a chance. Life is short. You got to suck the marrow out of life, and take a risk. I’ve never been shy when it comes to the ladies because what do you have to lose? I’ve never believed in leagues. So ask out that person that’s been driving you wild! I’d rather be remembered by history for having tried and failed at love, then never to have loved at all!

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

 

Today is the 3^rd Monday in January, and has since 1986 been observed as a federal holiday in the United States of America after the actual legislation passed in 1983. Under the Uniform Holidays Act, Martin Luther King’s birthday was finally recognized as a federal holiday. Even though, he was actually born on January 15, 1929. The day is a day used to honor, commemorate, and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy, and accomplishments. The famed Reverend, and Civil Rights leader, who led peaceful protests since the 1950s up until his assassination in 1968, for the equality and basic civil rights for Americans of brown skinned, and black skinned African descent, that are supposed to be guaranteed to all Americans of every race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, and physical stature under the Declaration of Independence, and United States Constitution. Some of his accomplishments of significance to name a few: organizing the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955, the marches beginning in Selma, Alabama, and ending in Montgomery, Alabama between March 7th-March 25th, 1965. And most significantly, the famous “I Have a Dream” speech in front of the Great Emancipator-and-Chief Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on August 28th, 1963.
